Footballer still in dark over Greece attacker's trial date (From Sutton Guardian)

When you are a victim you may relie on your family to support you through the long road to recovery and then to get you justice .

Sounds so simple !

However in realty this could costs a absolute fortune and it could take years to come to court if ever at all.

My family have been very patent even though our lives will never be the same again. The last defendant was extradited on the 29th of December 2011 but again released on bail two weeks ago back to his family and his normal every day life. While my son the victim because of this viscous attack on him cant remember his family or his life from before.

I believe like many other victims family's that when it came to getting up to date information on our individual cases would be an automatic right . However in Robs case I phoned the F.C.O in London to be told that if I wanted any information I would need to get a lawyer in Greece or to contact the defendants family for news.

I could not believe my ears the cost of a solicitor is thousands and if I contacted the defendants or there family's I would be accused of intimidation .As I have said many times times before I will always be proud of the Doctors and nurses in Greece as they saved my sons life. Also we must be clear it was not the town of Malia that nearly killed my son Robert in 2008 it was the thugs that kicked and punched him until he lay dead.
Life goes on but... waiting for support ,information, after care and a trial to start abroad if ever
!!! can in the end eat the victim's family's lives away forever.
